Loved getting lost in the forest because the hotel had no clear directions. The rustic-style rooms were so cozy that I felt like I was in a fairytale. Free WiFi was a great way to pass the time while waiting for the slow service.
Oh, how I adored being woken up by barking dogs in the middle of the night and starving because the food was off limits after 8pm. Just fantastic.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location near a beautiful forest was perfect for me, as I love nature and outdoor activities. The hotel facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. I particularly enjoyed having a room with a balcony, where I could relax and enjoy the lovely surroundings. The breakfast served at the hotel was delicious and varied, and the fact that it was served on the table made it feel even more special. Additionally, there was ample parking available for guests, which was very convenient.
Can't fault the property in any way.

I had a wonderful stay at a charming hotel surrounded by lovely calm surroundings. the staff at Forsthaus Schontal were incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure a comfortable experience. the rooms were spotlessly clean and well-appointed. the hotel had a beautiful beer garden, both covered and uncovered, perfect for enjoying the outdoors. the evening meals were delicious and reasonably priced, with a good variety of options. I also appreciated the facility to purchase drinks at any time from the corridor. There were plenty of walking areas nearby, making it a great location for exploring. Cons: For us, the hotel was ideal. 😉.

The location of Forsthaus Schontal in Aachen is conveniently situated in a forested area, perfect for dog owners looking for walking options right from the hotel. The staff is very helpful and friendly, ensuring that guests with dogs have a comfortable and spacious room. Despite being a simple and no-fuss hotel, they go the extra mile in arranging a takeaway breakfast for guests departing early. The outside restaurant area offers good quality food with a variety of choices, including vegetarian options. The hotel is family-run, providing a warm and personal service, and the rooms and bathrooms are kept impeccably clean. it's a great choice for travelers with dogs and those seeking a comfortable stay with excellent walking opportunities nearby.
Felt like home, no reason to complain.

We had a wonderful stay at a charming countryside guesthouse. The room was comfortable and bright, and the bathroom was well-appointed with an excellent shower. The breakfast spread was varied and plentiful, and the evening meals, although rustic, were delicious. Despite being close to the road, the traffic noise was not intrusive. I highly recommend this hotel for a peaceful and enjoyable stay.

The personal atmosphere of the hotel: From the moment I arrived, I felt warmly welcomed by the staff. It felt like staying at a friend's cozy cabin in the woods.
Location: The hotel wasn't exactly in the woods as I imagined. It was just one street away from the outskirts of Aachen and there was a fairly busy road outside.

The room at Forsthaus Schontal was cozy and inviting, with a comfortable bed that made me feel right at home. The private bathroom was clean and well-maintained, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. As a laid-back guest, I couldn't have asked for a better room to unwind in.
The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the small size of the room, but that's just my personal preference. Others might still find it charming and intimate.

Lovely peaceful countryside setting, perfect for a relaxing city break. the rooms were clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor seating area and children's play area, which would have been great if the weather had been better. the surrounding walking areas were also a nice addition, providing opportunities to explore the beautiful countryside.
It would have been helpful to have a more stable connection, especially for those who needed to contact home or rely on the internet for language translation. the food options were a bit disappointing, with limited choices for non-meat eaters during breakfast.
